Ability List
[/u][/size][/center]Telepathy: This ability allows the user to read other animals minds. When they just start using this, they may only be able to hear vague and blurry thoughts, but as they get more experienced they can completely read someone’s mind.
Drawbacks: Terrible headaches, sometimes reads the minds wrong, can only ‘hear’ words rather than see pictures, can only do it from a certain range.
Telekinesis: This ability allows the user to move objects using on their mind. On acquiring this power, they may only be able to move small objects a short distance. But as they get more experienced, they can move large objects over longer distances.
Drawbacks: Looses control when angry, can only do it from a certain range, can’t pick up living things.
Teleportation: Animals with this ability can transport themselves around the continent in a blink of an eye. Novices can only travel short distances in this way, but experts can go from one end of the land to the other.
Drawbacks: Can only teleport somewhere if they’ve been there before, sometimes end up in the wrong place, can’t bring anything with them.
Regeneration: This ability allows the user to heal themselves. At first, they might only be able to recover from small injuries, but eventually can heal themselves from almost any wound, and even can heal others when they get really advanced.
Drawbacks: Can’t recover from life-threatening wounds, can’t recover if parts of them are removed, can’t recover if something pierces them and isn’t removed.
Camouflage: This allows the user to be able to change their appearance to become anything else. At first they can only hold the disguise for a small amount of time, but eventually can pretend to be something else for days on end. They can turn into another animal, or even plant life and inanimate objects.
Drawbacks: Can only hold their disguise for a certain amount of time or during a certain part of the day, can’t do it in the company of others, can’t hide their true scent, can only turn into something they’ve seen before.
Invisibility: This allows the user to become completely invisible, unable to be detected by another animal, even by scent. At first they can only hold this power for a short while, like with the camouflage ability, but eventually can use it for days at a time.
Drawbacks: Can’t hide their true scent, can only do it during certain times of the day, can’t hide their shadow.
Elemental Control: This allows the user to have control over the four elements – Fire, wind, earth and water. They can conjure up flames, create water where there was none before, shape the earth and create massive gales. Beginners of this ability will have little control, but it can turn into complete mastery with practise.
Drawbacks: Looses control when angry, only has control over a few of the elements, accidentally sets themselves and other things on fire, weather conditions need to be right for it to work.
Weather Control: This allows the user to change the weather. They can make storms, bring out the sunlight, make rain, make snow, create a heat wave and plunge the area into freezing temperatures – Novices won’t be able to do this very well or for very long, but experts can change the whole climate they’re standing in. Note that the effects will wear off once the animal leaves the area.
Drawbacks: Looses control when angry, the weather needs to be the opposite of what they want for it to work (For example, to make a storm it has to be perfectly sunny), can only do it for a certain amount of time.
Light Control: The ability to cast a lot of light or create total darkness. At first animals can only change the amount of light in the area for a short time, but those who are more skilled can change the whole area completely with ease.
Drawbacks: Can only focus light on themselves, can only bring darkness where there’s a lot of light beforehand, can only create light at night and only create dark during the day.
Second Sight: The ability to locate anyone you think about, and the power to get a sort of birds-eye view of the land and find out where you are if you get lost. Animals not very well trained in this may get locations wrong or may just know a general area, but professionals will always get the exact position.
Drawbacks: Doesn’t always locate things properly, only knows the general area and not pinpoint the position, terrible headaches.
Flight: This ability comes automatically to those with wings, but for animals without them it means they can fly into the sky as if they had them. If you aren’t very skilled yet you can’t fly very high, but experts can as easily as any bird.
Drawbacks: Can only fly for a certain distance, gets tired easily from flying, can’t bring other things along with them.
Force Field: This power lets the user create an impenetrable barrier around themselves, which is impossible to get through, even to those with the phase through power. Novices can only create the force field for a short amount of time, but professionals can shroud themselves in it for as long as they want.
Drawbacks: Saps energy, can only hold it for a certain amount of time, makes them unable to move across the land whilst in a force field.
Phase Through: Animals with this ability can walk through anything, with the exception of the force fields that some other creatures can create. This power takes a lot of training, as those less skilled can sometimes return to normal whilst half-way through something, usually with messy results.
Drawbacks: Can sometimes get stuck in things, sometimes doesn’t work, can’t bring other things through with them.
Super Senses: This heightens regular senses to an amazing degree. The senses of sight, sound and scent are multiplied thousands of times, so you can detect someone approaching you from a very long way off if you have this power. Beginners may not notice much of a difference from regular animals, but connoisseurs can become aware of most anything.
Drawbacks: Hard to control and can be overwhelming, terrible headaches, only one or two senses are magnified.
Super Speed: Animals with this ability can move incredibly fast. Regardless of how they move, they can do it a hundred times faster than others of their species, although learners might not see much of a different at first.
Drawbacks: Hard to control and can run into things, can only do it for a certain distance, saps energy.
Super Strength: This allows any animal to become immensely strong. All abilities you would associate with a creature that’s incredibly muscular would apply to them, but beginners aren’t much different from regular animals.
Drawbacks: Can only lift things for a certain amount of time, only one part of them is strong (For example, their jaws or legs), need to regularly exercise to release energy.
Fish: This allows the user to breathe underwater. Novices might only be able to do it for a short amount of time, but experts can practically live underwater if they so choose. No, it doesn’t matter if it’s salt water or fresh water.
Drawbacks: Can only do it for a certain amount of time, can only do it in fresh or salt water, need to live in the water or near a body of water.
Toxicity: This ability makes the user poisonous to the touch of any other animal. Creatures that have just acquired this power will only make the other living thing feel slightly ill, but old users of it can cause near-fatal sickness in other beings.
Drawbacks: Unable to control when they’re toxic and when they’re not, unable to mate, they often feel ill themselves.
Visualization: This ability allows you to see the world through the eyes of others. If you have this power, you can see what someone else is seeing just by thinking about them. Novices will find this quite hard to do and it will take a while to learn, but experts can see through the eyes of anyone on the continent.
Drawbacks: The person you’re trying to see through the eyes of must be in the immediate area, can only do it from a certain range, can only do it for a certain amount of time, terrible headaches.
Emotional Manipulation: This allows the user to change the emotions of other animals around them. A beginner could maybe only effect a few others, but experts can change whole crowds feelings.
Drawbacks: Sometimes the emotions your changing will rub off on you, can only do it from a certain range, can only do it for a certain amount of time.
Memory Manipulation: This allows the user to change or remove the memories of another animal. Your skill at this will effect how permanent the change will be, or at least how accurate your attempts are.
Drawbacks: Sometimes the user will suffer from memory loss themselves, can only do it from a certain range, terrible headaches.
You must choose one of the abilities listed above when making your character. Every character should have some sort of draw-back from their ability, even if they’re experts at it, and I’ve made a few suggestions below each ability.
