Water, like an angel it can save you, and like a demon it can break you. Vital to life, though deadly in large enough quantities. The wolves of Aspen experienced more water than they bargained for during the autumn season when a flood raged through the land, engulfing the valley land below and separating the wolves onto two separate sides of the lands. Temporary pacts were formed, but not without tension. As the flood water slowly began to seep away over six months later, the pressure began to skyrocket, as packs were still broken, and borders were still gone.
Of course the inhabitants of Aspen are no novices to conflict. In fact, their three years existing in the area have been fraught with such encounter; skirmishes, abductions, murders, betrayal. There are many reasons that most share a defaulted dislike, and not just due to bad chemistry. The two original founders, and enemies, Aspen and Jale left a lot to be resented, and a lot of unsettled quarrels. Not to mention the original rebel, Risk, who added to the mush of conflict.
Even the most ethical beings cannot fight a grudge, or forget an explosive history. Despite the temporary bonds, there is still an underlying hatred, embedded deep into the most basic of instincts; revenge, survival, victory. There are no official packs, though when the last of the floodwaters cease to settle on the land, the competition will be cutthroat. Old packs will rebuild, old packs will dissolve, and more importantly—new packs will arise. A new generation. There is no good, and there is no evil—those are just a matter of opinion. For the lack there of stereotypes, there is plenty of toxin to settle in everyone’s veins, to drive their thoughts and motives. The time of peace is most certainly standing on its last legs.
Aspen is a play by post role playing community created in the summer of 2006 and still going strong. A new generation is about arise, and it is your choice to whom your wolf wants to follow—or whether it wants to try and create a pack of its own. Become an influence—just choose your poison.
