New Orleans: The Big Easy, Hollywood of the South, The City That Care Forgot, Crescent City. The historic Creole city has many names, but for the cats who live here, it's just home. Both domestic and feral felines have lived in the city for centuries, since before it became a Southern metropolis, surviving muggy afternoons, violent hurricanes, contagious feline illnesses, and the bustle of the annual Mardi Gras celebration. Voodoo is prominent in the city, with many cats believing in the religion and some evn practicing it, although there are fewer believers left today than in the past.
Some of the city's feline inhabitants lead pampered lives as housepets, enjoying air conditioning and regular feedings, but most end up living hard on the streets, struggling every day to find their next meal and avoid the dangers of human activity and other cats. Some strays, however, are fortunate or wise enough to join colonies, utilizing safety in numbers and gaining allies on the street. Crescent City is currently home to three colonies: Esplanade, which resides in the city's famous French Quarter; Cemetery, which rules the outskirts of town; and Bayou, outcast cats who eke out a life in the swamps outside the city. But even colony cats are not safe from danger; the Esplanade colony of two years ago was removed and euthanized by Animal Control when their numbers grew too large, and not long ago, the Cemetery colony was exterminated by an outbreak of distemper.

Crescent City is an intermediate level, semi-realistic feral cat roleplay set in modern day New Orleans. We aspire to be different from other roleplays in that we discourage immature behavior and encourage creative and fun roleplay. We are one of the few animal roleplays with a very specific setting, which has helped our members create unique characters and quality posts.
What Crescent City has that other sites don't:
» completely original plot, not based directly on any books or movies
» several varied areas to roleplay, including urban and wilderness settings
» friendly, talented members and attentive mods
» site creator has been roleplaying for over nine years
» drama-free environment (at least out of character!)
» most high ranks open
» leader spots are not given out based on admin preference or to staff members first, rather they are gained through activity and dedication
» photo tour of our setting, to foster more descriptive posts
» guests can read 90% of our boards
